This article assumes you have:
- A Tidepool Web account — you can create one for free at tidepool.org/signup
- Diabetes data uploaded to your Tidepool Web account.
The Basics View is designed to provide a summary of all your diabetes interactions over the past three weeks. Pretty much everything on the Basics page can be clicked on. Section headers filter your data based on different options, and you can click on each of the days to go to the Daily View and see all your diabetes data in that moment.

Date Range Selection
By default, the Basics view shows you two weeks of your most recent diabetes data. Clicking the calendar icon to the right of the default date range allows you to select a smaller or larger date range.
Upon clicking the calendar icon, you will be presented with the Chart Date Range window where you have the option of selecting 14, 21, 30, or 90 days via the available buttons.
You can also click in the "Or select a custom date range (90 days max)" field to set a custom date range of your choosing.
Changing the date range will cause the data in the Basics view to update, including the Summary Widgets and the Copy as text data.
Summary Widgets
Summary widgets along the right side of the page show blood glucose distribution based on CGM or blood glucose meter (BGM) data (this can be toggled), CGM sensor usage, average daily carbs, glucose management indicator (GMI), basal/bolus ratio, and average total daily dose of insulin based on your body weight (your weight must be entered to complete the calculation).
