Using your smartphone to connect your diabetes device's account to Tidepool Web

This article assumes you:

  • Have a Tidepool Web account — you can create one at tidepool.org/signup
  • Have a My twiist Portal account or a Dexcom account
  • Have an iPhone or Android smartphone
  • Live in the United States

Connecting your newly created Tidepool Web account to your My twiist Portal account

Need a Tidepool Web account? Sign up here.

  • From your smartphone, visit app.tidepool.org and log in with your email address and password
  • After logging in, tap on Connect a Device Account
  • Tap Connect to the right of the twiist logo



  • Input your My twiist Portal email and password that you created earlier with your twiist pump trainer



  • Tap Sign in
  • Tap the box indicating “I agree…” and then tap the Accept button



  • Tap the Sign In as [youremail@website.com] button



  • Tap Back to Tidepool to return back to Tidepool Web



  • Your My twiist Portal account is now linked to Tidepool Web
  • Need to share your Tidepool Web account with your clinic team? See this guide

Receiving an email invitation from your Diabetes care team to link your My twiist Portal account to Tidepool Web

  • Your Diabetes care team may have sent you an email invitation to link your My twiist Portal account to Tidepool Web so they can view your twiist AID system data
  • If you have been invited, you will receive an email that looks like this

  • Tap the Connect your twiist account in the email
  • Input your My twiist Portal email and password that you created earlier with your twiist pump trainer



  • Tap Sign in
  • Tap the box indicating “I agree…” and then tap the Accept button



  • Tap the Sign In as [youremail@website.com] button

  • You will see a success page indicating the connection was successful



  • Tap Claim My Account to claim this account your diabetes care team made for you so you can view your twiist Loop system data at home
  • Your My twiist Portal account is now linked to Tidepool Web
  • Need to share your Tidepool Web account with your clinic team? See this guide

Disconnecting your My twiist Portal account from Tidepool Web

  • From your smartphone, log into your My twiist Portal account at mytwiistportal.com
  • Tap Sign in and input your email address and password
  • Tap Sign in
  • From the page that appears, tap Go to Tidepool
  • On the following page tap Unlink under Action



  • Confirm this request by tapping the Unlink button



  • My twiist Portal will reflect this change by showing Unlink pending under Status
  • Look for an email to your My twiist Portal email address confirming the unlinking has been completed

Connecting your Dexcom account to Tidepool Web

  • From your smartphone, visit app.tidepool.org and log in with your email address and password
  • After logging in, tap on Connect a Device Account
  • Tap Connect to the right of the Dexcom logo



  • Input your email or username and password and tap Log in
    Forgot your Dexcom username? See this troubleshooting below
  • Review the information from Dexcom indicating you are sharing your Dexcom CGM data with Tidepool Web and scroll down to the to the bottom and select the appropriate response for "on your own behalf" or "on behalf of another..." and input your name as required by Dexcom



  • Tap Authorize
  • You will see a success page indicating the connection was successful

  • Tap Back to Tidepool to return back to Tidepool Web
  • Your Dexcom account is now linked to Tidepool Web

  • Your Diabetes care team may have sent you an email invitation to link your Dexcom account to Tidepool Web so they can view your Dexcom CGM data
  • If you have been invited, you will receive an email that looks like this



  • Tap the Connect your Dexcom Account button
  • Input your email or username and password and tap Log in

  • Review the information from Dexcom indicating you are sharing your Dexcom CGM data with Tidepool Web and scroll down to the to the bottom and input your name



  • Tap Authorize
  • You will see a success page indicating the connection was successful

  • Tap Claim My Account to claim the account made by your diabetes care team and view your Dexcom data at home on your Tidepool Web account
  • Your Dexcom account is now linked to Tidepool Web
  • Need to share your Tidepool Web account with your clinic team? See this guide

Disconnecting your Dexcom account from Tidepool Web 

  • Open the Dexcom G7 app
  • Tap on Profile
  • Tap on Account
  • Scroll down to the Third Party Applications section
  • Tap on View and Edit under Tidepool
  • Tap Revoke

Dexcom Troubleshooting

If you have forgotten your Dexcom account username or need to reset your password follow the instructions in this graphic.

Step 1. Find Dexcom username. Check the G6 or G7 app. Dexcom G6. Tap Cogwheel, then Profile, then find the username. G7 app: Tap Profile, then Account, and find the username. Step 2. Reset Dexcom password. After tapping Forgot my password, use the username you found in Step 1 to reset your password. Follow the prompts from Dexcom.
